I am not against Biafra's Independence. "I am not against people demanding for their rights" - UNDER-FIRE 'Apostle' Suleiman denies speaking against Biafra restoration |
"On the Biafra issue, it is on records that I am one (if not the only) preacher who has spoken for the release of [Nnamdi] Kanu. I condemned the continuous illegal detention of Kanu and asked for his release. This is even on tape as recorded by my media team".
'Apostle' Johnson Suleiman who is currently under severe barrage of fire from Biafrans has denied making a speech against Biafra Republic restoration. The evangelist, who is a senior pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry (OFM) came under severe fire of criticism by Biafrans over recent publications that reported he spoke against the restoration of Biafra. According to the report, Suleiman was quoted as saying that Biafra is dead and cannot not be restored. Suleiman has now denied this report according to Celebration TV.
"I am not FOR or AGAINST Biafra" Suleiman who is currently on evangelical mission in Rwanda was quoted as saying, while urging Nigerians to verify rumours before believing them. He also condemned the Nigerian media outlets who in the quest for popularity and patronage publishes information not true or unverified.
Speaking about the current rumours, he stated; "I have never spoken FOR or AGAINST Biafra and I will never do. I am not against people demanding for their 'rights', though I advise that it should be done within the confines of the law.
"I am not a noisemaker nor a talkative, I only speak when God ask me to and this is usually reflected in my yearly prophecies. The last time I spoke was to the Kaduna State Government where I asked that the Proposed Amendment to the Preaching Law be reversed.
"I am aware of certain vested interest from various quarters to tarnish my image and create a seemingly hatred for me. I am not also ignorant of the attempt to bring down the body of Christ with any means available.
"Our resolve is that The Name of Jesus Christ will reign in this country and peace will prevail in all regions.
"I do not grant press interviews except on overwhelming issues of national interest and as it concerns the Body of Christ.
"Most of the news items on the internet purportedly from me are not correct. People are trying hard to make up stories from what I preach on the Altar and most of the times, they totally misrepresent me.
