Biafra vs Buhari: If President Buhari remains General Buhari

Biafra vs Buhari: If President Buhari remains General Buhari
Shortly after the declaration of General Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the March 28th 2015 Presidential election in Nigeria, it was carried in the news that the Daura General has dumped the clad of a Military General and prefers to be addressed as President Muhammadu Buhari. Could the decision be a passing fad or will Buhari maintain the Presidential clad in its entirety was the question on people’s lips.

President Buhari’s four cardinal purposes of becoming President include to be addressed as President like his military colleagues who now enjoy the Nigeria/Biafra Civil War loots and booties. Secondly, it is to crush Biafra agitation, to Islamize Nigeria and to acquire wealth for his final retirement. Therefore the statement credited to him on the issue of Biafra actualization as reported in the Sun Newspaper of Tuesday 10th May 2016“That for Nigeria to divide now, it is better for all of us to jump into the sea and get drowned”, is not unexpected. No matter how violent the wind will be, it will never force the river to flow backward.

The President’s statement coupled with his stand on Nnamdi Kanu’s Court bail that he would jump bail if released shows what he thinks about Biafra and Biafrans. If you want to know what a leopard is thinking, see what its tail is doing. This does not represent maturity of a democratic President which he made people believe. The sign of intelligent people is their ability to control emotions by the application of reason according to Marya Mannes. However, the hood does not make the monk (Cuculus non-fecit monacus). And if wishes were horses, even beggars would ride them.

How can a President speak like that, threatening war if his wishes are not carried out? As democracy is the expression of the people’s wish through the ballot box, the military mentality of fighting out things in him ought to be subdued by the democratic principles, civility and modernity. President Buhari should know that it is humility that turned men into angels while pride turned angels into Devils and Satans. President Muhammadu Buhari is trying to play God which is very impossible for him to be. Only God can make that type of statement and it comes to be. Some presidents who have made such statements have always eaten a humble pie.

The actualization of Biafra is beyond the ability of Nigerian President to stop it. That Biafra fought a civil war with Nigeria cannot foreclose the agitation for Biafra independence. According to Marilyn Vos Savan, “Being defeated is often only a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent”. Napoleon Hill in his book, “Think and Grow Rich” said,“I believe in the power of desire backed by faith, because I have seen this power lift men from lowly beginnings to places of power and wealth. I have seen it serve as the medium by which men staged a come-back after having been defeated in a hundred different ways”. Britain colonized America and they fought a war before America got independence. By the way, have the countries that recognized Biafra withdrawn their recognitions? Instead, more countries are recognizing Biafra including the African Union.

America since after Vietnamese war which she lost, has fought sixteen (16) wars. Since 2000, America has fought six wars. Sudan after all, fought a 23-year war with South Sudan yet President Omar Hassan Al Bashir deemed it necessary to allow for a referendum for South Sudan independence that produced 99.5% yes-votes. Is it not ironical that President Buhari advocated for the independence of Palestine and Western Sahara that have engaged in wars for years with Israel and Morocco respectively going by his argument?

Biafra in ancient history and map of Africa has been an ancient entity and was only temporarily dissolved by Lord Fredrick Luggard’s amalgamation of 1914. Worse still the cancerous name Nigeria was given to the amalgamated entity by Lord Luggard’s girl-friend, Florence Shaw. What an ungodly imposition from an immoral and amorous affair.

Ghana was formerly Gold Coast. However J.B. Danquah renamed the country, Ghana and since then Ghana has been on the right track of fortunes. Today Ghana not only produces gold but also crude oil. President Leopold Senghor who was born in 1906 was a poet who led his country, Senegal, to independence. Even though a Christian, he led a country of over 95% Muslims. And the country’s national anthem and the lyrics were his handiwork. The late Capt Thomas Sankara renamed Upper Volta, Burkina Faso which means the land of the incorruptible. Even it was an American Architect James Hoban who designed the White House. The foundation of the irredeemable Nigeria is faulty and so the spirits of the land are not happy hence the unending, recurring and intractable fundamental problems of the country.

Wedlock is a padlock. Unless it is opened by the couples, it remains sealed till death do them part. If you marry the right person, you are complete but when you marry the wrong one, you are finished. Like a cloth which marriage is, if your own starts to tear and you keep quiet, it bursts. That is why inconvenient marriages are divorced and dissolved. The inconvenient marriage of Biafra and Nigera can be dissolved by the United Nations Organization as each is a wrong partner to the other.

What is the North avoiding in staying alone by forcing Biafra willy-nilly to remain in Nigeria? If Biafra is indispensable to the existence and subsistence of Nigeria, why must Nigeria play hide and seek game to express it? Rather force, pretence, intimidation, suppression arrest, detention, shooting, killing, maiming etc are the body language of Nigerian Government. But then, what can be forcefully snatched away from a child is what it holds on its hand and not what it bears in mind. June 24, 2016 is the day for referendum on whether Britain will remain in European Union. Nigeria, please referendum for the Biafrans, is the only solution not war. What a wise man does at the beginning, a fool does at last.
