A beach resort in the Ivory Coast has come under attack from gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs, according to reports.
At least eleven dead have been killed including a five-year-old child as a result of the assault on a hotel in the coastal city Grand-Bassam, it is reported.
Some witnesses said the attackers were shouting "alluha akbar" during the rampage.
Dramatic footage showed people running away from the beach near the Etoil du Sud hotel to sound of gunfire in the background.
Graphic images of dead bodies have also been shared on social media.
One local news outlet reported that one European and their companion were seriously injured.

Security services from the National police and French forces are now on site, it was claimed.
The beach was evacuated amid reports another of a hostage situation at another location.

Another news outlet, Linfodrome reported on Facebook: "approximately 10 armed individuals have opened fire on the beach of grand bassam, not far from the maquis the star of the south. More info to come"

A message posted on the official Facebook page of the Ivory Coast government reported 11 deaths.
It said: "An attack by armed men on two hotels at Grand-Bassam. Our security services are on site to deal with the situation and protect the population.
"We ask people not to panic and to remain calm. For those wanting to return to Abidjan from Assinie etc, we ask you to avoid the Grand Bassam area.
"Casualties:
- 5 Ivorian men
- 5 women, whose nationalities are as yet unknown
- 1 child aged under five
"There are injuries who have been attended to and evacuated by the emergency services."
The post was removed a short time later.
