Anambra EXPLODES as Buhari's DSS kidnaps Victor Umeh to clear the coast for APC senatorial candidate |
There is palpable tension in Anambra State following the kidnap of Victor Umeh, the APGA Senatorial Candidate in the rescheduled Anambra Central Senatorial Elections, by men of the Nigerian Department of State Security (DSS). Umeh was whisked away to Abuja earlier today by the Muhammadu Buhari's DSS.
Ikolo reports that Umeh's sudden gestapo-like arrest is the turning point in the unfolding drama that has trailed the contentious Anambra Central Senatorial election that has been scheduled and rescheduled in the past couple of weeks.
Until his arrest, Chief Umeh had looked unstoppable by a rash of aspirants among whom is the thickly rumoured entry of former governor Peter Obi.
Umeh's arrest has all the makings of a high-level political witch-hunt, calculated to halt his imminent victory as the Senator representing Anambra Central in the nation's upper legislative chamber.
Umeh's victory seemed a fait-accompli from the swirl of endorsements he has garnered from opinion leaders across the zone who see in him the final emergence of an astute representative in the nation's senate.
As at the time of filing this report, hordes of APGA faithful in Awka, the Anambra State capital are still talking in hush tones, plotting the commensurate response to this seeming act of provocation.
