Alert! DSS officials threaten to kill Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer
Officials of the Department of State Security (DSS), today openly threatened to kill Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor. This demonstrates how frustrated the DSS and Nigerian government is getting. Earlier the Nigerian government's prosecuting council had brought a written application requesting  the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) should not be allowed to witness the trial of their leader because they may turn violent if allowed  into the court .

The court however, rejected it as it was Nigeria's strategy to enforce a secret hearing for Kanu.
When Kanu's lawyer subsequently went out to get family members of Kanu into the court he was threatened by DSS officials. In a testimony in court,. Ejiofor noted that when he went out to the gate to tell the DSS to allow family members of Nnamdi kanu to come into the court as there were still empty seats, the DSS allowed only three of them  and threatened to kill him if he comes out again to solicit for the people. Ejiofor therefore, pleaded with the court to take into record that if anything happens to him, that the DSS should be held responsible

Meanwhile, the DSS has applied to change its legal team. The initial lead prosecuting team led by Labaran was changed to Idakwor.  However, the lead defence counsel Chucks Muoma (SAN) countered the change and objected on grounds that Idakwor cannot be the lead council of the prosecution citing the following reasons:

  • The prosecuting council is a principle leader to DSS.
  • He does not belong to any Attorney General Office to be a prosecuting council, and
  • by affidavit of investigation; he is a member of the complainants. He cannot be a complainant and a prosecutor.
The trial judge just ruled after his assessment, Justice John Tosho ruled that Idakwor can go on as the lead council to prosecuting council while Labaran steps down

Nnamdi Kanu and others arriving at the court
The leader of Indigenous People of Biafra  arrival at the court was accompanied by a shout ovation. The court premises are buzzing with hailing Biafrans while the court session was on course. Nnamdi kanu and two other defendants wore white attire signifying their purity and innocence, "whiter than white and whiter than snow", looking very comfortable and healthy, smiling and returning pleasantries.
