Saboteur! Orji Uzor Kalu is playing politics with MASSOB, IPOB – MASSOB |
A leader of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Solomon Chukwu has faulted former Abia State governor and candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), in the March 5 Abia North senatorial rerun, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, over his promise to address the problems which gave rise to the agitation by the MASSOB and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), if elected senator.
Kalu had recently while on a campaign tour at his home town, Igbere, Abia State, promised to address the problems which gave rise to the agitation by the Biafra nationalist groups such as MASSOB and IPOB, if elected senator.
Chukwu who stated this through MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Sunny Okereafor, said the former governor does not need to be elected a senator before he can lend his voice to the problems which gave rise to the agitation by Biafra nationalism and accused him of playing politics with the issue.
According to him, “As a former governor and international businessman, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu does not need to be elected a senator before he can lend his voice to the problems which are at the root of the agitation by pro Biafra groups.
"It is wrong for him to say if he wins election, he will address these problems. That was a political statement. Maybe, Kalu wants to curry the sympathy of the pro Biafra protesters to get elected to the senate.
"Does he need to become a senator before he can appreciate that the people of the former Eastern Region have become third class citizens and endangered species in Nigeria?
"Does he need to be a senator to know that certain political positions in Nigeria are no go areas for Ndigbo?
"Does he need to be a senator before condemning the killing of defenceless pro Biafra protesters who were praying at Aba, and others killed at Onitsha, Port Harcourt and other places?
“Does Dr. Kalu need to get to the senate before he can speak against the detention of pro Biafra protesters?
"What proper dialogue and common ground is he promising when President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to show hatred for Ndigbo?
"Rather than playing politics with the issue of agitation for Biafra, it is high time people like Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and other Igbo leaders speak up to say enough is enough.”
