Biafra is VERY MUCH ALIVE. Obasanjo living in SELF-DECEIT– IPOB |
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday took a swipe at former President Olusegun Obasanjo over a statement in which he averred that Biafra is dead, saying that Obasanjo is suffering from self delusion.
IPOB which reacted to the former chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement made available to The AUTHORITY on Sunday, referred Obasanjo to a substantive suit currently in the Federal High Court between Nigeria and Biafra No: FHC/ OW/CS/192/2013 stressing that it is a copious evidence of Biafra state of being.
The group which has been at the forefront of the campaign for the actualization of the state of Biafra with one of its arrowheads, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu undergoing prosecution for alleged treason, urged Obasanjo to wake up from his day dreaming over an inconclusive matter between Biafra and Nigeria.
The media representative of IPOB, Com Asuzu Chinedu Peters, who signed the statement stated, ‘’I want to let the world know that what Biafra lost is her sovereignty and not her people. Biafra existed long before Nigeria was fraudulently created by Fredrick Lugard in 1914 without the consent of the indigenes of Biafra and others, forcefully conscripted into the colonial geographical expression he called Nigeria.
‘’To demonstrate further, that Biafra is still alive, the remnant of the Biafra people that was not consumed by the war of attrition, a genocidal war that was targeted to totally annihilate Biafra people, the Supreme Council of Elders of Indigenous People of Biafra led by Justice Eze Ozobu (Rtd) sued for Self Determination in suit No FHC/OW/CS/192/2013.
The case is still on going at Federal High Court Owerri, whose the next hearing is scheduled to hold on 30th of March 2016.
“Now tell me, how can a man at his age in the person of Obasanjo continue to live in self-deceit? If Biafra is dead it is only dead in his mind, but we Biafra people have Biafra living in us all, including those that deny it openly while nursing Biafra deeply inside their hearts.
‘’We the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have started a movement to help Biafrans achieve self determination within the framework of law, under the customary law administration by the Supreme
Council of Elders (SCE).
Our ideology and adopted road map for pursuing and achieving self-determination for Biafra hinge on rule of law, diplomacy, civil rights (Human Rights Movement), mass media, politically, and every other legitimate process,’’ the statement concluded.
