Nnamdi Kanu: British diplomats to visit detained Biafran leader in Abuja
A Conservative minister has said that British consular officials will visit Nnamdi Kanu Radio Biafra director and the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), whose arrest in October has led to protests in various part of the world including Abuja Nigeria capital. This was revealed after a question from Lanour MP, Harriet Harman. who is representing Kanu's constituency in the United Kingdom. Kanu has dual British citizenship.




James Duddridge, Minister for Africa and the Caribbean, confirmed that Kanu, who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had been visited in Nigeria by members of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office but Nnamdi Kanu added that he did not ask for British consular's assistance. 

Nnamdi Kanu was arrested by the Nigeria Directorate of Secret Service (DSS) on charges of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and belonging to an unlawful society.

He pleaded not guilty in all charges. The case has been adjoined on 1st of December 2015.
His arrest and illegal detention has led to unprecedented protest across many Biafran cities and the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
