Ezekwesili pokes fun at Buhari "Nigerians are losing huge productivity hours over fuel scarcity".
In a hardly masked gibe, a former Minister of Education, Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, said that Nigerians were losing huge productivity hours to find and buy fuel products. This is an apparent reference to a tweet Buhari made early this year during the peak of the presidential campaign.

In March 2015, Buhari had tweeted the following:

That tweet has come back to bite.

Ezekwesili said that the current fuel scarcity situation, was inconsistent with Nigeria’s desire to improve efficiency.

She also lamented that Nigeria squandered the opportunity to build its reserve and Excess Crude Account to close to $100 billion.

Ezekwesili in several tweets said it was shameful to see people who oversaw and supported the depletion of Nigeria’s huge oil reserves for six years walking freely.

Her tweets read: “The tragic thing is seeing people who oversaw or supported the depletion of huge revenues in six years stumping around. #GetShamePeople.
“What a HUGE DIFFERENCE, had Nigeria BUILT UP RESERVE including Excess Crude of say $100billion as should have been! SQUANDERED OPPORTUNITY.”

She said most citizens do not want “endemically corrupted” oil subsidy scheme to continue, adding that the Buhari Government must convince Nigerians with credible sector reform plan.

The former minister added that Buhari must make hard choices to address fuel scarcity in the country.

Buhari has received knocks for sticking around to solve the fule crisis as the coutries Petroleum Minister.

Barely a day after his arrival from Iran,  Buhari jetted off  to Malta as the lingering fuel scarcity gets worse.
