APC South East at War: Okorocha and Okechukwu points accusing fingers at each other

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors Forum and Imo State Governor has declared that in the last general election, he was a lone ranger in the S/East who fought like a lion to redeem the ruling APC.

The Governor through his media aide Onwuemeodo Sam stated this, Monday evening, while reacting to an allegation made by the APC, in the S/East geo-political zone.

Okorocha was painted in the unflattering colours of a mole within the party and accused of engaging in anti-party activities.“I challenge Governor Okorocha to tell the world how far he assisted Senator Osita Izunaso for his bid for Orlu senatorial district, his own constituency and that of Hons Uche Onyeguocha and Uwajimogu of Owerri and Okigwe districts respectively” Okechukwu Osita, APC S/East Spokesperson had stated.

In swift response Okorocha fired back: “Obviously, Mr. Osita Okechukwu who has been parading himself as the Publicity Secretary of APC in the zone is one of such leaders in the APC in the South-East who never made any contribution to the activities of the Party in any way.“He is now being driven by the ambition for Political appointment and he believes he can achieve that by blackmailing genuine leaders like the Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

“For instance, Mr. Okechukwu had, while reacting to the interview granted to Sunday Sun by Governor Okorocha said that the Imo governor never genuinely campaigned for President Mohammadu Buhari and APC, and questioned why he did not deliver the three APC Senatorial Candidates in Imo during the election.

“Mr. Okechukwu had chosen to attack Governor Okorocha because the Imo governor has insisted that those who staked out their necks for APC in Enugu State where Mr. Okechukwu comes from should be the ones to be considered for appointments. That is the only crime of Owelle Okorocha against Mr. Okechukwu.

“It is a common knowledge that two States, Rivers and Imo had experienced the highest level of impunity from the PDP Controlled federal government during the last election. In Imo, amoured cars were rolled out against Governor Okorocha and all the security outfits were all out against the governor and APC.

“Yet, Governor Okorocha fought like a lion, won two Federal House of Representatives members for APC, and indeed the only ones in the whole of South-East.

“Won the governorship for APC, also the only one in the whole of South-East and won twenty-two out of the twenty-seven House of Assembly members for APC, and under such militarized scenario the State had found herself.”

“Following the lopsided logic of Mr. Okechukwu, would any reasonable person in APC or in the Country now say that because Chief Rotimi Amaechi could not deliver APC in the two elections, he therefore didn’t genuinely campaign for APC or President Buhari, with what happened in Rivers State during the elections.

“The APC in the South-East should celebrate Governor Okorocha for giving them two National Assembly members, one governor and twenty-two House of Assembly members out of twenty-seven. And above all, for the unprecedented pressure he mounted on the PDP people that made them not to return the kind of election figures they gave to Goodluck Jonathan in 2011.

“But a man like Mr. Osita Okechukwu could not deliver his booth for APC, and not to talk of his ward, or LGA for either in the Presidential election or in the governorship election. Yet, he is aspiring to be minister for doing nothing for the Party. Let him display the results of his booth and ward at least to prove us wrong.”
