STUPID! Ebonyi House of Assemby suspends people-oriented member (Afikpo Chic) for mobilizing youths against Electricity Coy
The stupidity of members of the State House of Assembly has been revealed by the recent suspension of one of their members for siding with the masses. The touts parading as lawmakers, yesterday, suspended one of its members, Maria Ude-Nwachi (Afikpo Chic), representing Afikpo North East state constituency for allegedly mobilizing youths of her area against Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.

The youths of Afikpo last Monday protested epileptic power supply in their area. The youths barricaded the entry and exit points into Afikpo town to drive in home their protest against the nonchalant attitude of the electricity distribution company based in Enugu, whose attitude portrays their insensitivity to the plight of the people. The protesting youths also petitioned the state government over the black-out.

The protest took place simultaneously in Afikpo, Unwana, Ozizza and Amasiri covering two constituencies of the state. During the protest, public institutions including banks and markets were shut down as three vehicles belonging to EEDC were destroyed while staff of the company were sacked from the offices by the irate youths.

Instead of the Ebonyi House to investigate the reason the people have been in blackout for over a year despite being charged for electricity supply, decided to suspend the only right-thinking member of the state assembly.

No others word could describe this action other than utter STUPIDITY!

The suspended member of Ebonyi House of Assembly, Nwachi, a social media blogger,  has tried severally with her personal money to fix the light issue, without the cooperation of the EEDC.

The House of Assembly described the action of Hon. Nwachi as unbecoming and contrary to the status of a lawmaker.

Isn't that interesting? What is the responsibility of the lawmaker if not to protect the interest of the people?
