Speaking at a book presentation and inaugural conference of Ala Igbo Development Foundation (ADF) in Enugu on Thursday, Achebe said more than 70 per cent of the investments of the Igbo-speaking Biafrans was scattered in other parts of Nigeria.
He said that the success of the Ndi Igbo in other parts of the country had often bred envy from their host communities and sometimes led to xenophobic attacks at any slight provocation.
“The more we take root in other lands, it generates envy from the host communities which often leads to xenophobic attacks on the Igbo.
“We must come back to Igbo land which is our base. We must begin to bring our investment back, rebuild and industrialise our land,’’ he said.
The traditional ruler noted that it was high time the Igbo began to translate the intentions of the various Igbo groups championing their wellbeing into action.
The royal fathers admonition follows series of recent anti-Igbo rhetorics raging across Nigeria, with prominent individuals openly expressing their disdain for Ndi Igbo and threatening to kll them.

There is nothing like one Nigeria but a forced marriage hurriedly arranged by the British who grudgingly gave independence to what is today called Nigeria but made sure they left the governance to the hands of their puppets who they can still control from England. I bet you all those people you mentioned are not and will never allow the survival of Biafra or its emergence simply because they have sold their conscience to those hurting us as such become part of our problems. Believe you me, if that natural resources that has made the so called Nigeria what it is today was to be in the Northern or Western part of the Country, forget it Nigeria would have been divided long time ago even without anyone agitating to secede. Please my brother without sentiment, could you find the first interview of PMB after he was declared winner of the last election, you will be shocked to know that his emergence was an arrange stuff going by the blind eyes the so called International observers and Inec turned particularly in the Northern parts of the Country where under aged children were allowed to vote so that Buhari can get the required figures. Before the election was conducted the West particularly Britain and America already know who they want and made sure he won. Am not saying Jonathan must or was the best candidate but why won't they leave us to chose the best candidate for the country? Few days to inauguration, PMB was summoned to England to remind him that they did not put him there to answer Luke but to perpetuate and consolidate their heinous agenda which is to milk us dry. I want to tell you with every sense of understanding, Boko Haram and other Terrorist groups has Western support if not why the refusal to sell ammunition to the past govt. even when they say terrorism must be rooted out. If Nigeria is one Country, how many houses or factories can be traced to a person from the North or Western part of Nigeria in the East nay Igboland. Why has River Niger not been upgraded to international standard as a Sea port? Nigeria is 56 year almost but why there is no airport functioning to international standard in the Eastern part of Nigeria? The same people who have sold their conscience for selfish interest and would never want the actualization and Sovereignty of Biafra are the same people who destroyed the Onitsha, Nnewi and Aba markets just to mention a few to make sure it is Lagos or Kano even when at any little provocation it will not only cost us our lives but the business we started with the £2 they gave us after the war. The injustice will not stop unless Nigeria is divided. One state alone in the East is bigger than most countries in Europe, Norway is a case study with just 4.5million population. This marriage of 1919 is more like blacks and their white folks in Britain or America where the black will forever be subjected to racism all their lives irrespective of the contributions they make in those countries. I think it is time to renegotiate this marriage because it is not working.
