Breaking: President Nkurunziza returns to Burundi after failed coup

Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza has reportedly returned to Burundi after failed coup attempt on his government by dissident soldiers. This was announced by presidential office says on Twitter.

Nkurunziza had travelled to Tanzania for a regional peace meeting when a former army chief announced a coup d'etat on Nkurunziza from a private radio station.

Efforts for Nkurunziz to return to the country's capital Bujumbura was prevented by the dissident soldiers who blocked access to the airports and land borders. 

Heavy fighting followed throughout the noght and later part of today between loyal army forces and the dissident soldiers.
