Medicine after death: Breaking News: Jonathan sacks Suleiman Abba, appoints Arase as Acting IGP
President Goodluck Jonathan has relieved the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, of his appointment and duties with immediate effect.

“President Jonathan has also appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase as Acting Inspector-General of Police, also with immediate effect,” says Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) Reuben Abati in a statement just issued in Abuja.

Until his appointment as Mr. Abba’s replacement, Mr. Arase was the Head of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.

The police under Abba were accused of complicity in the shambolic elections recently conducted in Nigeria. Abba further incurred the wrath of the people when he refused to investigate the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu who threatened to drown Igbo-speaking Biafrans in the Lagoon if they fail to vote for his anointed governorship candidate.

He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Political Science and Strategic Studies.

Arase is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Defence College.
