The many war crimes committed against Biafrans by Yakubu Gowon have continued to be ignored by the world. Whereas dictators across the world who committed less heinous crimes as Gowon's-led Nigeria government have been made the face the law, Gowon and his associates have been allowed to roam free. Talk of justice in the world.
Evidence abound of how millions of Biafran civilians were killed by Nigerian forces under the command of Gowon. Gowon bombed markets (Afo Umuohaiagu), hospitals, schools. He burnt down villages (Asaba Massacre) and he starved children to death. Perhaps the cold-blooded murder of Mathias Kanu by Gowon's forces is a case at hand.
In the video (shown below) obtained by The Biafran, a Biafran civilian who identified himself as Mathias Kanu was murdered right before a foreign journalists' camera by a Nigerian Army captain. The brazenness of the execution clearly demonstrated that Gowon's soldiers were under strict instruction to execute any Biafran the captured.
Mathias could be seen in the video denying being a Biafran soldier. No investigation was carried out to ascertain this, no trial conducted, yet he was tied like a ram and shot by the roadside while the foreign journalist watched.
