The Council of Imams and Ulamas has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to investigate the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oristejafor, over the $9.3 seized armed deal. In a statement signed by the Chairman of the council, Sheik Usman Baba Tuni and Secretary, Ustaz Yusuf Arrigasiyyu, made available to the media over the weekend in Kaduna, the council wondered why the Nigerian government has refused to investigate Oritsejeafor whose aircraft was used in the purchase of arms from South Africa.
“The refusal by the Federal Government to set up even a Kangaroo panel to investigate the matter and the refusal to make the culprits public talkless of punishing them has shown the level of impunity under which this government operates.
“Even when there were mixed reactions from the Christian leaders and some Nigerians, the Federal Government prefer to reward the principal suspect the CAN president with a visit to Jerusalem in the company of Mr. President,” the statement noted.
Oritsejafor has been a rabid critic of the Boko Haram and the Hausa/Fulani oligarchy sponsoring them. They have therefore been on lookout for an opportunity to neutralise him. Therefore, when the Nigerian security agencies decided to covertly purchase arms to fight Boko Haram from South Africa, Oritsejafor private jet was used. The deal was however, signed off by Sambo Dasuki, the National Security Adviser, who is the son of the the former Sultan of Sokoto and a Muslim. It is therefore baffling that the Council of Imams and Ulamas is calling for the investigation of Oristejafor without mentioning Sambo Dasuki who authorised the deal. Various agencies of the Nigerian government who have investigated the South Africa arms deal have all exonerated the CAN president, but the Muslims who see him a formidably enemy to destroy.
By going after Oritsejafor, the council hopes to incite ignorant Muslims against the Christains by insinuating that Christians were behind the Boko Haram. However, the council and Islamic leaders of Nigeria are the real sponsors of Boko Haram are willing to sacrifice a few Muslims to achieve their ultimate goal.

The council also called on the Nigerian security agencies to bring to an end the wanton destruction of lives and property going on in the country particularly in Kano, Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states and called,on Muslims to defend themselves.
“The Council has repeatedly called on the Federal Government and it security agencies to bring to an end the killings of innocent children, women, and the aged in the country particularly in Kano and the North-eastern part of Nigeria where almost everyday people are killed with impunity.
“The killings of thousands of Nigerians and the destructions of property worth billions of Naira in Kano, Yobe, Borno and Adamawa, the capture of some Nigerian territory by the insurgency and the inability of the federal government to recaptured the lost areas captured by Boko Haram and the nonchalant attitude towards the release of the Chibok girls has created a strong feeling among Nigerians in the sincerity of this government to bring to an end the scourge of this insurgency looking at the trillions of Naira budgeted for Defence in the last three years.
“We therefore call on this administration to with matter of urgency stop these killings henceforth as no any responsible government will watch while his citizens are killed on daily basis like insects,” it stated."

The Biafran notes that Boko Haram is seeking the Islamisation of Nigeria and enforcement of strict Sharia Law. This was what the Council of Imams and Ulamas had called for and nurtured when the former Governor of Zamfara State Ahmed Rufai Sani Yerima resurrected the Sharai Law in the state in 2000. The Muslim residents of the state greeted the introduction of Sharia law with enthusiasm; while many Christians protested and got killed for it. Thousands of Muslims gathered on the streets of Gusau cheered and shouted "God is great". Sharia implementation bodies were established in Zamfara, including the Council of Ulama, Hisbah Commission, Zakkat and Endowment Board, Sharia Research and Development Board, and the Preaching Commission.
So why is the council now running away from their creation?
