Boko Haram's gradual march to Yola and beyond: Michika falls. . . Mubi and Yola next
Boko Haram is holding sway in the Northeast of Nigeria. Their Islamic Caliphate is expanding by the hour. From their operational base in Sambisa and Gwoza, they have extended their flanks to the north to capture Maiduguri and Damaturu, the capitals of Bornu and Yobe States respectively and towards the south to capture Yola, Adamawa capital.

The march to Yola began with the capitulation of Madagali, then Gulak failed two days ago. Today Michika in Anjawa has also fallen into the terrorists hands.

In Gulak, the Jihadists were in the thick of their reign of terror, shooting people, bludgeoning others, and burning houses. In Michika, the terrorists were reported to have chased out Nigerian troops and hoisted their flag in the township.

Judging from the progression of the terrorists, the next town to go would be Mani Bayi, which is on the way to Mubi. The capture of Mubi by the Islamists would facilitate the downfall of Yola.

Nigeria soldiers have been deployed to Mararaba Mubi to forestall capturing Mubi. Soldiers from the 23 Brigade in Yola were told to put on their uniform and get ready to defend Mubi.

Below is an analysis of Boko Harams expansion strategy.
