Over 90% of Anambra voters complied with the call by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the boycott of the 18 November, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State. Despise intimidation and threats from the Nigerian government, arrest and molestation of innocent Biafrans, and unwholesome financial inducement of greedy politicians over Anambra voters shunned the the charade termed as election in the state. Visits by various field reporters at the polling stations uncovered deserted polling stations In some stations just a handful of voters were seen having been offered money and food.

Colonel Tony Nyiam (rtd), a  former Nigerian Army officer has declared that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra have shaken the foundations of Nigeria. 

The Cross River State-born Nyiam who came to the limelight when he and some other officers attempted to overthrow the former military president, Gen Ibrahim Babangida in a coup, on April 22, 1990, also stated that 'General' Muhammadu Buhari's actions are undermining the Unity of Nigeria.

The Ghost Squadron emerges, They claim that their emergence is because of the absence of Nnamdi Kanu. The group warned Buhari not to embark on his planned visit to Biafraland. The group states “Nature forbids vacuum, since Nnamdi Kanu can neither be seen nor heard from and nobody knows his whereabouts, they have no other option than to go into action in order to protect Biafraland.”
